Vox Media held a conference in Washington, D.C. called Vox Conversations. It was an invitation-only event for guests to assess what has changed, what hasn't, and what comes next with a new administration in the White House. Over a two-day period, I filmed interviews with prominent guest speakers, including one with New Jersey Senator Cory Booker (story).
Chris Turner for The Guardian and The Marshall Project
Portraits of Chris Turner, a man accused and convicted of a brutal 1984 murder in Washington, D.C.; however, he has claimed his innocence since the beginning. The latest story on what transpired, along with images, was a collaborative effort between The Guardian (link) and The Marshall project (link).
Senator Bernie Sanders for The Guardian
For The Guardian, I filmed a reporter-led interview and made portraits of Senator Bernie Sanders on Capitol Hill. The story ran here. Screenshots highlighting the published piece are below.
Raffi Freedman-Gurspan for BuzzFeed News
Raffi Freedman-Gurspan was the first openly transgender female in the White House. In 2016, President Obama appointed Raffi as The White House's primary LGBT liaison. Raffi stayed in that position until the new administration came in. On her last day in office, I photographed her at The White House Executive Office Building for BuzzFeed News. The published story is here.
National Geographic Channel Production Images
Over the past several months, I had the opportunity to work on several major productions for National Geographic Channel. My role on set was to document production and make portraits. On the television series Years of Living Dangerously, a show that brings celebrity correspondents to the forefront of climate change issues, I worked with Bradley Whitford and Arnold Schwarzenegger on separate occasions in Washington, D.C. National Geographic Channel also produced a documentary film titled Gender Revolution: A Journey with Katie Couric. For this film, I was in Gloucester, Virginia, where I worked with Katie and Gavin Grimm, a transgender teen whose case for a bathroom bill was sent to The Supreme Court.
